Yesterday, Thursday, December 3, 2015, the opening of the photo exhibition “Civil Romania. Spirit and Expression” took place, a special event held at SENSO Art Gallery (Bd. Unirii nr. 15, Sector 5, Bucharest). The exhibition presents over 60 photographs shot by Marcel Sebastian Oros during the events that took place after the fateful night at “#colectiv” and the 23 photographs of the late Teodora Maftei, reunited under the title “The London Unedited”, images shot by the journalist in London in the summer of 2015.
When, immediately after the fateful night of October 30, I started, together with my colleagues, the project “Civil Romania”, I felt, I wanted and I knew that we need to mobilize us as well as possible. I wanted we to get involved, to try to make known every action and initiative that succeeds quickly, to take the pulse of University Square and be part of the spirit of the young people, but also the spirit of those who were aged as their parents and even their grandparents, to reflect as many as possible cultural and artistic events and events dedicated to the tragedy that took place at #colectiv. All of them, though so different, aimed, especially then, to help the victims. And we succeeded! But we very quickly realized that this project is and will be one without borders, not definable in time and space, but dedicated to the civil society here and elsewhere.
